The EV2 is the smallest member of Kia’s growing electric family. It follows the same formula as the larger EV models, but compresses it into a car just four metres long. The question is simple: does the recipe work just as well?

Kia has become one of the success stories of Europe’s EV transition. The EV3 in particular has proved hugely successful, while the broader range combines competitive pricing, strong technology, solid build quality and realistic driving ranges.
Yet despite those undeniable strengths, Kia’s larger EVs have not always been universally loved. Their styling is distinctive and their credentials impressive, but they can sometimes feel a little too serious, too determined to make a statement. The EV2 takes exactly the same design language and somehow turns it into something far more approachable.
A Friendlier Face
The family resemblance is obvious, but the smaller dimensions work wonders. The sharp lines and bold styling cues that can seem almost intimidating on larger models become playful here. The EV2 has character, but it wears it lightly. It is one of those cars that tends to provoke an immediate smile. Rather than trying to impress, it simply feels friendly.

That impression continues inside. The familiar Kia formula remains intact, with its large digital displays, thoughtfully positioned physical controls and impressive material quality for a vehicle of this size. Yet the atmosphere is noticeably different from that of the larger EV models. In a bigger cabin, Kia’s minimalist design can occasionally feel a little cold.
In the EV2, the same elements fill a much smaller space and create a far more intimate environment. A horizontal LED light strip running across the dashboard adds visual warmth and helps break up the otherwise restrained colour palette. The result is not exactly cosy in the traditional sense, but it feels more welcoming and more alive than some of its larger siblings.
Smart Packaging
Practicality is another area where the EV2 impresses. The boot is generously sized for the segment and includes a substantial underfloor storage compartment. Charging cables need not occupy that space either, as they can be stored separately beneath the front bonnet.

Buyers can choose between a standard five-seat configuration and an optional four-seat layout featuring a sliding rear bench. The latter allows owners to prioritise either luggage capacity or rear legroom, and can create surprisingly generous accommodation for rear passengers considering the car’s compact footprint.
The EV2 will be offered with two battery options. The first combines a 42.2 kWh battery with a 147 hp motor and delivers between 308 and 317 km of WLTP range. The larger 61 kWh battery is paired with a 136 hp motor and extends range to between 413 and 453 km, depending on specification.
One option stands out as particularly worthwhile: the 22 kW onboard charger. In cities where public AC charging infrastructure frequently operates at that power level, it offers a meaningful advantage over the standard 11 kW unit. Beyond that, the entry-level model already feels well equipped.
Comfort Makes the Difference
On the road, the EV2 delivers exactly what buyers in this segment are likely to appreciate most. The electric powertrain is smooth and responsive, energy management is well judged and the overall driving experience feels reassuringly polished.

But there is also something else. Unlike some larger Kia EVs, the EV2 has a touch of personality. It is not especially sporty, nor does it pretend to be. What it offers instead is a sense of liveliness that makes everyday driving enjoyable.
The biggest surprise, however, is ride quality. On poor road surfaces, the EV2 absorbs imperfections with remarkable composure. Citroën remains the benchmark for suspension comfort in this class, but Kia is not far behind. That achievement alone places the EV2 among the strongest contenders in the electric B-segment.

Like coffee, the same ingredients can produce either a large but forgettable mug or a small cup packed with flavour. The EV2 feels very much like the latter. It may be the smallest member of Kia’s electric family, but it could well be the most charming.
