Testing and voting:
- All cars that fulfil the requirements set out in the statutes and have been officially entered during the year will be considered Candidates and will be included on the Long List to be published on 28 October.
- It is the responsibility of the jury members to test all the Candidates on the Long List properly and they must cast a first secret vote, selecting the seven models they consider deserve to be on the final list. This final list will be published on 30 October.
- From that date until 29 December, the members of The Car of the Year jury will continue with more specific tests of the seven finalist models included on the Short List.
- In early December, several test days will be held at a designated venue, where all jury members will meet to evaluate the seven finalist cars under the same conditions.
- December 29 is the final day for jury members to cast their votes, which are always secret.
- Each member of the Jury has 25 points, to be spread over at least five cars, with a maximum of 10 points for his or her first choice. The same number of points cannot be given to the first two chosen cars on the voting form. A winner must always be chosen.
- Each jury member is required to ensure that they give a total of 25 points and must provide a detailed explanation of their votes for each model. The points and votes will be made public on the day of the Car of the Year award ceremony.
And the winner is…
The winner of The Car Of The Year award will be announced at a public ceremony to be held as part of the Brussels International Motor Show. During the event, all votes for each model will be displayed by country, with the winner being revealed at the end of the ceremony, which will be streaming live.
